AKC CANINE GOOD CITIZEN PROGRAM
We strongly recommend this class if you plan to move to the next level of training or plan to be involved with therapy, service, agility or any other type of specialized situations with you new companion! This is a great obedience class with the basic manners being taught.


CLASS DESCRIPTION:
This class uses AKC Canine Good Citizen guidelines and a test will be conducted by a AKC approved evaluator on the last day of class. Once your pet has passed the test, pet parents can submit the paperwork and receive their certificate from AKC. Taking this course helps your pet learn how to behave in public and can help you move on to the next step of training and is for any breed or mixed breed and your pet does not have to be AKC registered to participate.

Week 1
  Accepting a friendly stranger, Sitting politely for petting Appearance and grooming
Week 2   Out for a walk (walking on a loose leash
Week 3   Walking through a crowd
Week 4   Sit and down on command/staying in place, recall Coming when
Week 5   Reaction to another dog, reaction to distractions
Week 6  Supervised separation
Week 7   Test (optional)

RECOMMNEDED AGE: 1 year and older

CLASS SPECIFICS: 1 hour per week for 7 weeks
Cost is $180 (+ certificate) Deposit of 50% due with registration
form and balance due on 1st night of class.
Minimum class size is 3, Maximum 6-8

HEALTH REQUIREMENTS: proof from vet of all age-appropriate vaccinations. Recommend Bordatella (kennel cough).

EQUIPMENT NEEDED: Flat Buckle or Martingale-Type Collar, 6 Foot Leash, Yummy Training Treats (we recommend Zukes Mini-Naturals) and a Brush.

GET THE BASICS-ADULT CLASS

This class provides basic training so your pet will listen and act on each command. Taking this class will help you develop your leader of the pack skills and keep you in control of your pet. The basic training class will include Sit and Down, Stay on command, Heel, Come, (to the owner-also known as Recall) and Leave It. At the end of this class the pet parent should be confident in controlling their pet.

We recommend this as a great refresher course or if you’ve adopted an older pet.

RECOMMENDED AGE: For dogs over 1 year of age

CLASS SPECIFICS: 1 hour per week for 6 weeks ~ Cost is $160
Deposit of 50% due with registration form and balance due on 1st night of class.
Minimum class size is 3, Maximum 6-8
